After having just one player listed among Baseball America‘s Top 100 prospects list heading into the 2018 season, in a very low position in the rankings at that, the New York Mets now have another name on that list.

Andres Gimenez, who signed with the Mets for $1.2 million as a 16-year-old, was seeded at No. 94 heading into the year and as No. 83 in their most recent rankings. He is now listed at no. 74 in Baseball America’s most recent updated list.

After 43 games for High-A St. Lucie, the 19-year-old Venezuelan native is hitting .287/.354/.433 with 13 runs batted in, 16 stolen bases, 11 doubles, three triples and two home runs in 157 at-bats. He had a .802 OPS for the month of May.

The Mets’ newest addition to Baseball America’s Top 100 rankings is Tampa, Florida native, Peter Alonso. He comes in at No. 82 on the list.

Alonso, 23, has hit .308/.393/.563 with 48 doubles and 37 home runs over his first two seasons in the Mets’ organization (Low-A Brooklyn, 2016; St. Lucie/Binghamton, 2017).

In 177 at-bats for Double-A Binghamton this season, Alonso is slashing .339/.461/.627 with 14 home runs, 44 runs batted in, and nine doubles.
