Dillon Gee struggled early, and the Mets offense couldn’t stage a rally in their 4-3 loss to the Diamondbacks
Game Notes
Dillon Gee was hit hard in the first two innings, giving up all of his four runs, but after that point allowed no runs in the next three innings. Gee’s final line was five innings, four runs allowed on five hits while walking one and striking out three. Gee lacked control for most of the game, but by the third inning finding a way to get the Arizona batters out.
The bullpen was strong today, with Ryota Igarashi, Tim Byrdak and Manny Acosta combining for three innings of scoreless baseball allowing two hits and striking out two.
The offense had many chances today, but couldn’t capitalize for the most part. Jason Bay had an RBI single, Jason Pridie had an RBI groundout that could’ve been a double if not for a great play by D-Backs 1B Paul Goldschmidt. Willie Harris had a sacrifice fly in the ninth to make the score 4-3. Outside of that, the offense struggled. Five Mets managed eight hits, three of them by Jason Bay.
David Wright – 0 for 3 with two walks. Moneyball!
Angel Pagan – 2 for 5 with a run scored.
Josh Thole – After a great game, 0 for 4 with one strikeout.
Turning Point
When the Mets failed to even get one run across in the fourth with the bases loaded and one out. The Mets could’ve put a run or two across and made Ian Kennedy work more.

Jason Bay had a good day at the plate, and thats both a product of a 3 for 4 day, and of a futile offense

The Mets will continue the series against the Diamondbacks, sending Mike Pelfrey to the mound against Danile Hudson. Game time is 8:10 P.M.
