Game Summary

Either Mother Nature is a Mets fan or these spring storms in the north have one slim positive in them. Either way the Mets win with a little help from the rain. With the game being called in the seventh inning and the Mets having a three run lead after hitting the Cubs harder than the rain, gives them a win to tie up the series. Gee pitches a complete game (technically) and the offense showed up to get the 7-4 win.

Game Notes

With all of the tornadoes in Missouri and the severe thunderstorm warnings with flood warnings in Indiana/Ohio area, luckily Chicago only got hit with rain as no one got hurt and saved the Mets from possibly blowing a lead. Dillon Gee got the start and went the six innings that Mother Nature would allow him, technically giving him the complete game and his fourth win of the season. Despite giving up a disastrous four runs on four hits in the first inning, he was throwing blanks after. Racking up four K’s and walking two as well. But I guess that means nothing when you play for a sh*tty team.

The offense came alive very early scoring six runs in the first two innings, and another in the fifth. Racking up 12 hits and scoring seven of those. Mets were 5-14 with RISP, but the W outshines any other number on a scorecard. It’s also nice to see each starting position player had a hit in the game and equaling the same number of walks as strikeouts with five each.

“Mr. Not Carl Crawford”, Jose Reyes had two hits and a run scored on a Beltran double. Carlos “65-70%” Beltran took the ball to the wall with a double, triple, two RBIs, a run scored, and a walk. Murphy, Bay, and Thole combine for three hits, a run scored, two walks, and three RBIs. The Buffalo kids (Pridie, Tejada, Turner) combine for five hits, a Big Red RBI and a walk. Good guys, sh*tty team, right, Fred?

Turning Point

I guess when the offense just kept “pouring” it on. Mets puns.

Game Ball

Gotta give it to Beltran’s bat and Gee’s heart not to give up after a tough first.
