Recap

Mets are just spoiling us with all this offense including the homeruns. Ike Davis with a three-run homerun to break the game open, and after Jason Bay robbed the Braves of a homerun, hit one himself deep in center field for a solo shot and an insurance run. Broken fingers seem to be helping the Mets.

Dillon Gee had a great start this afternoon allowing only one run on four hits in seven innings pitched. He walked one and struck out five including two huge strikeouts to end the seventh. He had his stuff working tonight with his pitches moving well and keeping it low in the zone. He kept from repeating his sequence of pitches which kept the batters off guard. He said facing the Braves so many times last year has helped him learn about batters swings, when they are aggressive, and what pitches they like. I’m still not hundred percent confident in him, but you can tell he’s learning and learning quick. We might just have something in Dillon Gee.

Jon Rauch and Tim Byrdak combined for two shutout innings to end the game. The bullpen bounces back after the blunder last night. “Here’s the pitch, strikes him out. The ball game is over!” Love hearing Gary say that.

Wright, Tejada, Niewenhuis, and Thole all continue their hitting with a hit each, and two hits for Josh.

Ike, Duda, and Bay all with averages under .200 but they seem to be the ones with the bombs.

Notes

Tejada has his sixth double of the season. Leads the NL. Jose who?

Mets have won the first four games against the Braves this season and are 7-3 for the season. Good for tied for first in the NL East.

Hero of the Game

Bay and Ike each homer, but Dillon Gee was fearless and gets the honor.
