The Mets beat the Giants 5-3 today and will go for the series win tomorrow.

Pitching

Noah Syndergaard retired the first six guys to face him this evening.

In the third, Syndergaard gave up hits to the first two batters and both came around to score. After that, it was mostly smooth sailings.

In the fourth, he faced a small jam but got out of it with a nasty sinker that will be seen tomorrow.

He then retired the Giants rather easily in the fifth and sixth inning. His final line was: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, BB, 6 K.

Drew Smith came in the seventh but gave up a homer to his first guy. He retired two of the next three guys to face him. He was pulled with two outs in favor of Jerry Blevins to face Joe Panik. Blevins got the Mets out of it.

Robert Gsellman pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning. Goodsellman appears to be back.

Daniel Zamora started the ninth to retire Brandon Crawford. He did his job and yielded to Paul Sewald. Sewald shut the door for his first big league win.

Offense

Jeff McNeil tripled in the first but the Mets didn’t cash in.

Dominic Smith homered in the second inning. He had three balls tonight with an exit velocity of 100 MPH or more. Maybe play him more.

Also in the second, Jeff McNeil singled home a run and Todd Frazier doubled home a run.

In the fourth, Jose Baurista homered to make the score 4-2.

In the seventh, Todd Frazier homered to make it 5-3.
