Pitching:
Noah Syndergaard toed the rubber for the Mets this afternoon. In 4.2 innings, he yielded two runs on four hits, walked three and struck out five.
The two runs he allowed came in one fell swoop when Evan Gattis punched a single into left field.
Robert Gsellman came on in relief of Syndergaard in the fifth inning and turned in 1.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits with one punch out.
AJ Ramos pitched the seventh and allowed a two-run home run to Alex De Goti to give Houston a then 5-1 lead. Ramos’s ERA for the spring is now 4.05.
Jerry Blevins pitched a clean inning in the eighth, but Matt Purke surrendered another run in the ninth in his one inning of work.
Offense:
Brandon Nimmo kicked off the scoring for the game with a home run in the first inning as his hot spring continues. Unfortunately for the Mets, however, it would be the lone run they put up all game.
The Mets logged seven hits on the afternoon. Jay Bruce went 2-for-3 out of the No. 2 hole, while Phillip Evans recorded two hits out of the No. 6 hole.
Jose Reyes went 1-for-4 as his batting average on the spring dropped to .148. Adrian Gonzalez isn’t too far behind him as his 0’fer brought his average down to .167.

The Mets will look to break even on the day as their split squad team will take on the Washington Nationals tonight at 7 p.m. The game can be found on MLB Network.
