Pitching

Zack Wheeler struggled early in his final start of the spring. He struck out Cedric Mullins to open up the game, but then Dwight Smith got the scoring started with a solo shot.

The Orioles then strung together three straight two out hits to extend the lead to 4-0. Trey Mancini lined a single, Rio Ruiz hit an RBI double, and Chris Davis crushed a two run shot to left center.

Wheeler then bounced back in the bottom of the second, and after issuing a one out walk to Mullins, he rolled a 6-4-3 double play to get out of the inning.

Dwight Smith hit his second home run of the game off Wheeler leading off the bottom of the third, to increase the Orioles lead to 5-3. He bounced back to get out of the inning without any further damage, with help from a putout on a Ramos snap throw behind the runner at first.

Wheeler ended his day after the third inning, he allowed five runs on five hits, two home runs, while walking two and striking out two.

Luis Avilan came on in relief of Wheeler in the bottom of the fourth, and he struck out the only batter he faced. Jeurys Familia came on and retired the next two batters easily, to end the fourth.

Robert Gsellman allowed a pair of hits, but he picked off Richie Martin to help him get out of the inning unscathed. Gsellman tossed an easy scoreless bottom of the sixth as well.

Seth Lugo allowed the Orioles to retake the lead in the bottom of the seventh, as Renato Nunez came around to score on a Martin sacrifice fly.

Edwin Diaz struck out three in the bottom of the eighth, but he also hit a batter and allowed a stolen base, and an RBI single, as Baltimore retook a 7-6 lead.

Matt Blackham worked around a lead off walk in the bottom of the ninth, to secure the 9-7 win over the Orioles.
