The New York Mets (70-82) lost 4-0 in this rubber match of their three-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies (78-73) at Citizens Bank Park.

Pitching

Noah Syndergaard made his third-to-last start and did not have an easy time of it. He gave up a homer in the first to Rhys Hoskins but still struck out three.

He pitched a scoreless second inning and third inning but gave up a two-run homer to Odubel Herrera in the fourth. He was pulled due to a high pitch count so his final line was: 4 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K.

Jerry Blevins pitched the fifth but gave up a run in the process.

Paul Sewald pitched a scoreless sixth with a strikeout.

Tim Peterson had two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

Offense

The Mets scored no runs but they had some solid individual performances. Amed Rosario went 3-for-4 with his 20th and 21st stolen base. Slowly but surely, his OPS is nearing the .700  mark.

Jeff McNeil walked twice and Brandon Nimmo went 1-for-3 with a walk. Solid day for the youngsters.

The ninth became interesting with a hit by Jay Bruce and Brandon Nimmo but the Mets did not score.
