The New York Mets (77-85) defeated the Miami Marlins (63-98) by a score of 1-0 to finish up their season at Citi Field.

Pitching

Noah Syndergaard got the ball for the Mets and was absolutely dominant in his last start of the season.

In the first, Syndergaard gave up a hit to his first batter but got a double play on the next hitter to retire the side quietly. Syndergaard retired the side, 1-2-3, in the second inning.

In the third, he retired the Marlins in order again with a couple of strikeouts. Noah retired the first two in the fourth but gave up a hit with two outs.

Syndergaard worked around another hit in the fifth, which also came with two outs. The sixth inning was another 1-2-3 inning for him. Syndergaard gave up hits in both the seventh and eighth inning but worked around it quite easily. He ended the eighth with just 87 pitches so Mickey allowed him to take the ninth inning.

In the ninth, Syndergaard retired the side, 1-2-3. He finished with just over 100 pitches and his final line was: 9 IP, 5 H, 6 K. His final ERA 3.03. For all the criticism Syndergaard gets, if a pitcher’s final season ERA is 3.03, then he’s a really good pitcher.

Offense

Jose Reyes got one plate appearance and left the game. It is his last plate appearance as a Met.

Jeff McNeil had a couple of hits on the day.

Their only run of the day came in the fourth when Todd Frazier doubled home Jeff McNeil. The offense did not do much against young righty, Sandy Alcantara.
