The New York Mets only mustered six baserunners in their 2-1 loss on Friday night to the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field.

Pitching

Jacob deGrom pitched for the Mets this evening and was spectacular for the most part. He allowed a homer in the second to Johan Camargo. He pitched a scoreless third thanks to a nice double play by Jose Bautista and Jose Reyes. He worked around a first and second, no-out jam in the fourth inning.

In the fifth, he retired the first two but he gave up back-to-back doubles to Ronald Acuna and Ozzie Albies. He managed to settle and pitch a scoreless sixth, seventh, and eighth inning to end his night.

His final line was: 8 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, BB, 9 K. My god, who’s dog did this guy kill?

Anthony Swarzak pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Offense

Amed Rosario recorded a double in the third inning for the Mets first hit. Jacob deGrom drove in the first Mets run of the game with a single.

Anibal Sanchez settled in after that and retired nine in a row at one point. The Mets had a baserunner in the sixth, seventh, and ninth inning but could not muster any runs in those innings.

The Mets offense had only two hits on the night and struck out 10 times.

Tomorrow

Zack Wheeler starts for the Mets on Saturday night at 7:10 p.m. on SNY. Right-hander Kevin Gausman will counter in his Braves debut.
