The Mets try to take the rubber game and the series tonight as they play the Sunday Night game against the Phillies. The first game featured fantastic pitching for the Amazin’s as the edged the Phillies by the score 1-0 (continuing to frustrate Hammels). Then last night’s game was overshadowed by defensive miscues and the continued anemic offense. The Mets send out Pelfrey in the hope that he battles back Kendrick and the Phils.

Pelfrey made a fine start last time out as he picked up his 11th win of the season after tossing 7 scoreless, 4 hit innings against the Rockies. He is 1-1 against the Phillies this year as he has allowed 6 ER and 11 hits over 11 innings against the Phillies. The Phillies have these numbers lifetime against Big Pelf:

Howard 11-27, 2B, HR

Victorino 8-29, 2B, HR

Werth 6-24, 2B

Ruiz 4-17, 2B

Dobbs 7-13, 2B, HR

The Mets today will continue their month long adventure through the depths of the Mendoza line, as they hope to break out tonight against Kendrick. Kyle is 7-5 with a 4.60 ERA this season for the Phillies and is looking to bounce back from a fairly terrible start his last time out. So far this season he has made one start against the Mets were he picked up the loss after allowing 4 ER over 5 innings pitched. The Mets have these numbers on Kendrick:

Francoeur 9-22, HR

Reyes 5-14, 2B

Wright 3-15, HR

Beltran 3-10, HR

Pagan 3-9, 2 2B

Thole 3-3
