Mickey Callaway spoke to reporters before today’s game and said that Todd Frazier has yet to begin running, but has started to take batting practice.

Frazier has been eligible for activation since the start of the Mets weekend series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but appears likely to miss at least the remainder of this homestand.

Until Frazier returns, Wilmer Flores stands to receive most of the playing time at the hot corner, but Luis Guillorme and Jose Reyes will likely get some of the at-bats as well.

Despite Reyes .132/.179/.189 slash line, Callaway still seems to believe in the former All-Star, but admits that a decision of him being a roster casualty upon Frazier’s return is not his to make.

“I think there’s more baseball left in Jose. As far as I’m concerned, Jose is a big part of this team.”

New York Mets third baseman Todd Frazier told Mike Puma of the New York Post on Wednesday that he doesn’t expect to return from the 10-day disabled list on Friday when eligible.

Frazier, 32, was placed on the disabled list on May 8 with a left hamstring sprain that he had been playing with for roughly three weeks according to manager Mickey Callaway.

The veteran third baseman is batting .237/.357/.412 with five doubles,  five home runs and 21 RBI in 140 plate appearances. Frazier was struggling in May with a .484 OPS in six games.

Wilmer Flores, Jose Reyes and Luis Guillorme have split time at third base in the absence of Frazier. They have hit a combined .261/.292/.391 in 24 plate appearances.
