Mets star shortstop Francisco Lindor, who’s been out since July 16 with a right oblique strain, was seen taking batting practice Wednesday afternoon at Citi Field.

Lindor is ramping up his baseball activities with batting practice and was even taking some ground balls at shortstop, as well as playing catch. The Mets had originally targeted this week as an imperative one for Lindor, who seems likely to be ready to be back with the team before the end of August.

“It’s nice to see him ramping things up,” Luis Rojas said. “He gave me good feedback so that’s a good step forward. This is one day of the first day we’re ramping things up.”

Rojas also mentioned that he believes Lindor is week-to-week, in terms of a rehab assignment. “It was a good day and there’s nothing more to say.” Tomorrow Lindor will have a lighter workload, as the team wants to see how his body responds.

Regarding the Mets other star shortstop Javier Báez, Rojas still needed to check on his availability for today’s games. Baez was proactive about being available if the Mets needed him in a certain spot last night.
