After a monstrous week for Francisco Lindor, he’s been rewarded by being named the National League Player of the Week.

Lindor’s huge week, in which he hit .348/.407/.870/1.277, saw the Mets star score 10 times, rack up eight hits (six of which were extra-base hits), batted in 14 RBIs and stole a base as well in just six games. Lindor has also recorded at least one RBI in eight-straight games, which is the tenth time in Mets history, and is the first since both Carlos Beltran and Carlos Delgado did it back in 2006.

Lindor hadn’t won a Player of the Week award since May 2018, when he won it twice in three weeks.

Since May 14, Lindor has appeared in 16 games and is hitting .333 (20 hits in 60 at-bats), has scored 19 times and has 21 RBIs. Lindor is also third in all of baseball with 40 RBIs. He’s having his best offensive season since his All-Star campaign back in 2019 with Cleveland, and he looks like the player that the Mets were getting when they gave him a record-breaking $341 million contract extension ahead of the 2021 season.

On top of all this, Lindor is tied for second in the majors in WAR among shortstops with 2.0 accumulated over the first 50 games of the year. That’s a 6.5 WAR pace for the season.

With the injury concerns still plaguing the Mets’ pitching staff, it’s been great to see the offense waking up of late. With Lindor leading the charge, Mets fans can also relax knowing that their star seems to be regaining the magic that he had in Cleveland for years.
