Starting pitcher Jonah Tong, OF-2B A.J. Ewing, outfielder Carson Benge and 3B-1B Jacob Reimer were named Baseball America Minor League All-Stars on Wednesday.
Tong, who makes his fifth major-league start Wednesday, was the first pitcher to lead the minors in ERA (1.43), strikeouts (179), and opponent batting average (.148) since the publication began tracking overall minor league category leaders in 1993.
“Tong owes his breakthrough to enhanced fastball velocity and a new Vulcan-grip changeup that completes his north-south pitching profile,” wrote Matt Eddy of Baseball America. “The 22-year-old righthander now pitches in the mid 90s with elite extension and ride from a unique over-the-top arm slot.”

Benge, last year’s first-round selection from Oklahoma State, hit .281/.385/.472 with 15 homers, 73 RBIs and 22 steals across three levels, ending the year at Triple-A Syracuse. The 22-year-old struggled at his final stop, posting a .583 OPS in 103 plate appearances.
