wilmer floresWilmer Flores twisted his right ankle while stepping on second base going first-to-third in the second inning of last night’s game.

Before he went out for the bottom of the inning, Mets trainers had his ankle taped and Flores said he was fine to finish the game. He was not removed from the game as was reported on MetsBlog.

Flores actually ended up making a tremendous diving stop on a hard hit ball down the line which he speared, got up and fired to first to make the out.

Terry Collins said he would check with Flores before today’s game and that it  did not require X-rays or other tests which disputes some other reports that are out there.

“It’s just sore. That’s it,” Flores said. “… I was able to play. … I think I’ll be all right.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if Flores gets the night off anyway….
