On Monday, the Arizona Diamondbacks announced their one-year deal with Wilmer Flores.
Flores, 27, was non-tendered by the Mets after the 2018 season, ending his six-year big league tenure with the team.
“Since Day 1, I’ve always liked playing in Arizona…When they called me, and I saw they had interest in me, I wanted to go there,” Flores said about signing with Arizona. “I have David Peralta there – I’m really close with him – and it seems like a very good club.”
The infielder, according to the Diamondbacks GM, will hold down second a decent amount, but will also see time at first and third base.
While he will now be in a different uniform, Flores penned a short and sweet letter to the Mets, the team he grew up with.
“To Amazin’ Mets Fans: Thank u for your support over the years. I am blessed to have shared so many great experiences w/all of u and I am grateful for (the) friendships … I will cherish them and all of you … I look forward to meeting my (Dbacks) teammates and fans,” he said in an Instagram post.
The Mets themselves released a tribute video thanking Flores for his services.
You grew up a Met, and you’ll always be a part of our family. Thanks for the memories, Wilmer! 4⃣ pic.twitter.com/TQg5vuBvj2

Flores’s 10 walk-off hits as a Met is a club record, which he set in July.
With that being said, I will leave you all with this video below. Thank you for all the great memories, Wilmer!
