Wilmer Flores is heading back to New York to receive tests on his sore lower back. Phillip Evans, as speculated by Betsy Helfand earlier after he was removed from the game for the Las Vegas 51s, is heading to Atlanta to just in case the third baseman needs to go on the disabled list.

Wilmer Flores was removed from today’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the bottom of the fourth inning with lower back soreness, according to Wayne Randazzo of 710 WOR. The Mets replaced him at third base with Luis Guillorme.

Flores was hitting .252/.325/.405 with three home runs and 13 RBI coming into the game today.

If Flores were to miss time, the team would likely use Guillorme, Jose Reyes, and Jose Bautista at the position until Todd Frazier returns from the DL. Frazier is starting a rehab assignment with the Las Vegas 51s this week.

Betsy Helfand of the Review-Journal reports that the Phillip Evans was removed from the game for the Las Vegas 51s very shortly after Flores was removed, suggesting that a DL stint might be likely for Flores as Evans is a logical replacement on the roster.
