The Chicago White Sox are reportedly on the verge of a fire sale as we approach the winter meetings that will take place beginning December 5 in Washington D.C.
MLB Trade Rumors takes a look at all the potential players that may be available to interested teams, some of which can notably help the New York Mets. Relief help could come in the form of David Robertson or Dan Jennings in a trade with Chicago.
Jennings is coming off a superb 2016 season. The left-handed reliever pitched to a 2.08 ERA while appearing in 64 games for the White Sox. He struck out 46 batters in 60.2 innings pitched with a WHIP of 1.40.
The Mets could also look at the former Yankee, Robertson, who pitched to a 3.47 ERA in 2016 while appearing in 62 games for the Sox. Robertson served as the primary closer for Chicago and picked up 37 saves last season.
Robertson would give the Mets another big power arm in the back-end of the bullpen, giving themselves practically three closers in any given game. He struck out 75 batters in 62.1 innings pitched last season while pitching to a WHIP of 1.36.
As the White Sox look to rebuild, they will be looking for players under control for years to come in return for any of their players. With the hot stove really beginning to heat up, it will be interesting to see if these two teams can connect on a deal.
