Make sure you check out Adam Rubin’s Morning Tidbits from Port St. Lucie where he has some nice little nuggets of information including this one which caught my attention:

An informal clubhouse poll suggests Daniel Murphy may be the preferred second baseman for the Mets. Scouts have serious reservations about Rule 5 pick Brad Emaus’ ability to produce at the major league level this season, with one suggesting he might hit .210 this season with the Mets with below-average defense.

Today, Matt Cerrone of MetsBlog said the Mets people he talked to say differently suggesting that Brad Emaus would get the majority of at-bats at second base to start the season.

In talking to people in camp, and others connected to the team, it seems Brad Emaus will likely get the bulk of the playing time at second base to start the season. That could change, of course. But, as of now, he’s the front-runner.

Two totally different takes on Emaus.

I wonder if that informal clubhouse poll Rubin cited included players? That would be weird if it did.

By the way, for more on Oliver Perez check out both of those sites, as for me I’m taking an Ollie break for a few days. 🙂
