Mets right-handed reliever Drew Smith was placed on the 10-day IL on Saturday with right shoulder inflammation, the Mets announced.

It’s a big hit to the Mets’ bullpen, as Smith has posted a 2.40 ERA in 41 1/3 innings this season.

Outfielder Albert Almora Jr. was also optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. Almora has struggled mightily at the plate this year, hitting just .128/.163/.191 with the Mets.

In a pair of corresponding moves, right-handers Geoff Hartlieb and Jake Reed were recalled from Triple-A Syracuse. Hartlieb has pitched in two games for the Mets this year and given up four runs in 2 1/3 innings. Reed has pitched in six games this year in his first season in the majors, but not for the Mets — rather, the Dodgers, who the Mets are coincidentally facing on Saturday. He gave up up three runs (two earned) in 5 1/3 innings for LA.
