dexter fowler

Dexter Fowler had himself a nice 2016 season with the Chicago Cubs, contributing regularly to the team that would go on to win the World Series.

The Cubs intend on offering Fowler a qualifying offer according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. Fowler though is not expected to accept the $17.2MM qualifying offer.

This could be detrimental to anyone looking to sign him as the center fielder will now cost a first-round draft pick. The same scenario hurt Dexter in free agency last year before agreeing to return to the Cubs on a short-term deal.

The Mets have already been talked about as a possible landing spot for Fowler, if Yoenis Cespedes takes his talents elsewhere.

Fowler had a productive 2016, hitting to a .276/.393/.447 batting line to go with 13 homers and 48 RBI. He also helped to produce 84 runs while swiping 13 bases as well.
