The race for the NL East is slowly drawing to an end. The Phillies and Braves are losing steam, and well, we just keep winning. Before Saturday, the Mets scored 5 runs or more in 12 consecutive games. That’s insane for a team who has had several key players out with injuries. The success from players David Wright, Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes, Luis Castillo, and Moises Alou have really jump-started the team’s chances to lock in their second consecutive division title.

And, it’s only going to get better, as Endy Chavez returns very soon, and when I say "very", I mean it.

The Mets have some decisions to make, even before the rosters expand September 1st. Mike DiFelice and Sandy  Alomar will soon make way for the returns of Lo Duca and Castro.

Ruben Gotay’s job is probably safe for now, and there’s no way that Marlon Anderson is left off this team.

Jeff Conine, the newest Met, is safe as well, considering we gave just gave up two prospects to get him, and because he can still hit, and has lots of playoff experience.

It’s sort of questionable about Milledge with his recent struggles, but we’ll see how that plays out.

Should Shawn go? Should Mota go (I hope…)? When Easley is back, should he go?

Well, that’s up to Omar and Willie. I certainly hope that Mota is one of the first to go. I’m tired of his struggles, and I’m sure all of you are too.

You know what? Despite the countless injuries the team has endured, we look pretty good heading into September.

Let’s Go Mets!
