Friday night saw much of the same from Mets’ ace Jacob deGrom — dominance against the opposing lineup.

Even at hitter-friendly Sahlen Field in Buffalo (just ask the Mets 18 runs), deGrom shutdown the Bluejays to only one run over six innings while striking out nine.

Last nights stellar outing has now lowered the right-handers ERA to 1.67, and the possibility of a third straight Cy Young award is on the horizon with only a few starts left.

Speaking of hitter friendly, the Mets’ offense did their jobs last night, spotting deGrom up to 14 runs by the fourth inning.

While it’s great that he is finally getting some run support, those long scoring innings sometimes have a negative impact on starters having to sit and only watch for so long.

deGrom jokingly commented about all the waiting around saying postgame, “It was a little cold out there, so I was trying to stay loose in between, but I’m thankful for the runs.”

As someone who’s seemed to pitch with absolutely no run support over his career, I’m sure Jake highly appreciated those crooked-number innings for a change.

Although deGrom only has about three starts to go in this strange and shortened season, it’s been remarkable to watch him continue this type of dominance for yet another year — Mets fans are lucky to have him.
