Deadspin decided to an unscientific polling this season of who were the best and worst beat writers for every major league team. Today, they have released their results:
For the Mets they selected:
Best:
ESPN New York’s Adam Rubin is by far, the best Mets beat reporter. Jorge Castillo is a distant second.
Worst:
The Daily News’ Andy Martino is the worst and it’s by a country mile. He openly roots against the team, doesn’t do his research, brings no new relevant info to the table, and openly trolls the fans.
I would have to agree with that assessment…
I would also mention that along with Rubin and Castillo I enjoy following and reading Marc Carig, Mike Kerwick, Kevin Kernan, Rich Couthino and Anthony DiComo very much. They are all passionate, objective and professional reporters, and they each do a good job of interacting with their readers.
