david wright

The good news just keeps coming in for the New York Mets as we get news from the front lines on David Wright.

After beginning baseball activities on Tuesday at Citi Field, Wright remained with the team and continued participating in fielding and running drills as well as batting practice.

On Friday night, we learned that Wright will now head to Port St. Lucie to begin working out at the team’s complex and getting ready to participate in rehab games and ultimately begin a rehab assignment leading up to his return to the major-league squad.

“Everything’s good. Now it’s a matter of getting the reps without overdoing it,” Wright said. “Incremental steps every day where not only are you doing the baseball thing a number of days in a row but you’re also kind of upping your reps each day.”

Actually, it’s been pretty cool to see the captain in the dugout during these last few games, and he certainly came in handy on Wednesday when Wilmer Flores needed some moral support. As always, David Wright was there doing what good leaders do.

I’ll tell you what my friends, but the second half is shaping up to be something extraordinarily special. It’s almost as if the planets are aligning just for little old us.  🙂
