According to MLBTR, David Wright is calling all of today’s reports inaccurate:

Mets third baseman David Wright offered commentary on the slew of reports from earlier today regarding his rumored contract negotiations, telling MLBTR, “I have said from Day 1 that I want to play my entire career with the New York Mets. I remain hopeful that goal can be achieved. However, I am disappointed by the reports that I have read today which are inaccurate,” said Wright.

Nothing is imminent, agent Seth Levinson explained to MLBTR: “Discussions with the Mets are ongoing. We don’t anticipate a deal any time soon. However, things can always change. I will not characterize the negotiations or comment on the accuracy or inaccuracy of what is being reported,” Levinson said.

I’m shocked that both Rosenthal, who’s one of the best, and Martino were not onto something. Are the Mets purposely leaking this stuff as a means to an end? It wouldn’t be the first time.

After making David Wright a six year, $100 million offer yesterday. As Ken Rosenthal predicted it was rejected, and now this from Andy Martino of the Daily News:

Like I’ve been saying, Wright will get a huge second generation contract from the Mets, and the masses will be appeased.

It’s happening…

I’d be shocked if deal doesn’t get done by end of the day…

In fact, I’m betting on it…

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Mets offered David Wright a six-year, $100 million extension on Monday, on top of the $16 million owed in 2013.

It’s the exact dollars and length of the deal that the Tampa Bay Rays gave to Evan Longoria yesterday. But Rosenthal says that the offer is expected to be rejected by Wright’s reps.

Wright is wanting more in both years and dollars, and Rosenthal adds that he wants at least a seven year extension or longer.

Wow…

This will certainly mute the crowd that has been insisting that Wright is different than Reyes. That he wants to be here… That he dont care about money… That he loves the Mets so much he’d give them a hometown discount… That he’s more loyal to the team than Reyes…

I wonder if he counters, or if he just tells the Mets he wants more… A lot more…
