Meet the latest Sports Illustrated Mets cover boy, Daniel Murphy… A nice reward for the MVP of the NLCS. Murphy, who hit .529 (9-17) with 4 homers, 6 RBI and six runs scored in the NLCS, is featured in this week’s World Series Preview available nationally on newsstands.

He was the first player to have least eight hits and four homers in a postseason series that was four or fewer games. Murphy has homered in a major league record six straight postseason games dating to Game 4 of the NLDS.

Daniel Murphy’s seven home runs this postseason are the most in team history for a single postseason and the most in a career during the playoffs.

Here is a cool tidbit from SI about Murph…

“The six home runs Murphy has hit in six consecutive postseason games have come on four different types of pitches in five different counts in six different areas, including two that were out of the strike zone. In other words, the man is covering everything.”

All Hail!
