Second baseman Daniel Murphy hit a go-ahead double in the 10th inning and helped the Washington Nationals rally to beat the Atlanta Braves 4-3 in their season opener on Monday.

Murphy also homered in the game, a mammoth shot to give the Nats an early 2-1 lead in the 4th inning. In what manager Dusty Baker called a “sweet debut,” he went 2-for-3 with a double, homer, two RBIs and even added a pair of walks.

It was his first game since departing the Mets as a free agent and signing a $37.5 million, three-year contract with Washington.

The 2015 NLCS MVP set a postseason record last year by homering in six consecutive playoff games. He batted .281 with 38 doubles, 14 home runs and 73 RBI during his final season with the Mets.
