New York Mets stud pitcher, Noah Syndergaard, has shown few weaknesses this season. As of late though opposing teams have exposed one flaw in Thor’s game and it is their ability to run at will when reaching base.

In Syndergaard’s last game pitched against the San Francisco Giants, he allowed three stolen bases. In his prior start against Cincinnati, Syndergaard allowed five stolen bases. Pitching coach, Dan Warthen, believe though that this was an odd case of one game and not something we will consistently see. Warthen has a thought of how to limit the running against him.

“I just told him to be quicker,” Warthen said. (Newsday)

It is said for a catcher to have any shot of throwing out a would be base-stealer at second base, a pitcher must be 1.3 seconds to the plate. Syndergaard sat at 1.5 in his previous start.

Opposing teams have been quite successful this year when running on Noah. Runners have swiped 12 of 13 bases against him this year. In the previous season, he allowed 15 of 16 successful stolen base attempts. The league average for stolen base success rate against a pitcher is just 30 percent, Syndergaard is at 92 percent

It’s just gotten away from him a little bit,” Warthen said.

Syndergaard will take the mound tonight for the Mets in San Diego as he looks to improve on his 2-1 record. Overall Thor has been dominant at many times this season, pitching to a 2.51 ERA. He has struck out 44 batters in just 32.1 innings pitched. Game time tonight is 10:10 ET.
