Bill Madden of the New York Daily News reports that as part of Rob Manfred’s plan to eliminate short-season leagus, the Brooklyn Cyclones could become the New York Mets’ new Double-A affiliate.
According to the proposal, only three New York-Penn League teams would still be in existence, with the Cyclones moving to the Eastern League.
This would result in the elimination of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies which has been the Mets’ Double-A affiliate since they purchased them back in 1991.
