curtis granderson

In 2015, Curtis Granderson was the catalyst for this Mets offense. Some would say as Curtis went, so did the team in general last season. That same magic from the “Grandy-man” has sorely been missed for the majority of this season, until recently.

With the Mets trailing 4-0 in the house of horrors known as Turner Field, Granderson would begin the comeback for this team on what seemed to be a listless Friday night. He bashed a two-run shot that would put the Mets on the board and on their way to a 6-4 come from behind win. Manager, Terry Collins knew that homer was the spark the team needed Friday.

“It got us right back in the game and the energy in the dugout changed,” Collins said. (NY Post)

Granderson has been hitting home after homer as of late. He has now homered in four straight games, tying a career best. This recent hot streak could not have come at a better time.

“Just a little bit of luck, basically,” Granderson said. “Right now they happen to be going out of the ballpark.”

Over his last 15 games he has hit to a .267/.407/.711 slash line to go with six homers and 14 RBI. He has also drawn 11 walks in those 15 games. When the Mets needed him most as they make this run at the postseason, he has come through big.

Getting Granderson going has lengthened the lineup even more and has been a key to the team’s recent success. They currently hold a half game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals for the second Wild Card spot and only trail the San Francisco Giants by a half game for the top spot.
