granderson

Yesterday, Mets right fielder Curtis Granderson visited PS 133, the William A. Butler School, and 224 3rd- and 4th-grade students to help kick off the New Balance SparkStart Fitness Challenge, a program that will challenge over a thousand children in six cities across the country to participate in recess activities and games and track their physical activity over a six-week period. Granderson spoke with the students about the importance of fitness and staying active, and even led the students in his favorite exercises!

After kicking off the program in Brooklyn, Granderson used his Instagram channel, @cgrand3, to invite his fellow Team NB athletes to accept the challenge and visit a school in their team’s home city to ignite the spark for movement in even more young people.

Picking up the challenge in different cities across the country will be Team NB athletes Xander Bogaerts (Boston), Matt Duffy (San Francisco), and Maikel Franco (Philadelphia). Each athlete will visit a local school to introduce the New Balance Fitness Challenge, get the children excited to participate, and join in some of their Playworks recess activities.
