Could Robinson Cano have a say in the next Mets’ manager? The answer is yes.

In a new article from the New York Post‘s Mike Puma, we learn that Cano serves as a consultant to Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen. He takes Cano’s thoughts and opinions into great consideration, meaning he may have a say when it comes to the next Mets manager.

Was Cano responsible for Carlos Beltran originally getting the gig? Maybe. Cano and Beltran are friends.

Does this mean that someone else Cano is close with can become the next Mets manager? Who knows. But, if so, Luis Rojas is most likely the front runner then. According to The Post, Cano “has a strong admiration” for him. Is this a reason as to why he was in consideration for the Mets managerial search the first go-around? Maybe.

If you are wondering how the two are so close, Van Wagenen was Cano’s agent prior to becoming the Mets GM…. and if you remember, Van Wagenen is also the one who is responsible for the deal that brought Cano (and Edwin Diaz) to the Mets.

We have known that Rojas is one of the names mentioned to replace Beltran. Some have even gone on to say that the Mets should act quickly and lock him up. For a deeper look at Rojas, here you go.
