Michael Conforto will remain with the Las Vegas 51s to begin the second half of the season, reports ESPN’s Adam Rubin.

Conforto, 23, was demoted on June 25 after two horrific months in a row with the big league club in which he slashed .148/.217/.303 over 44 games.

In 13 games with Vegas so far, Conforto is hitting .340/.411/.530 with three home runs, 13 RBI, a double, and a triple.

Terry Collins said this week that it doesn’t make sense to keep both Conforto and Brandon Nimmo on the active roster at the same time, as both wouldn’t get regular playing time. Nimmo is batting .250/.313/.318 in 14 games (48 PAs) with the Mets this season. Expect him to be sent down when Conforto is called back up, which will presumably be rather soon.
