Michael Conforto says he still doesn’t know if the Mets will let him come off the DL Thursday when eligible, but he feels 100 percent and ready to go.

“I’m hoping,” Conforto said.

Manager Mickey Callaway echoed Conforto’s notion by saying the slugger is feeling good and will be back soon. However, he did not confirm if he would return Thursday when he is eligible to come off the disabled list.

According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Michael Conforto hit off Jason Vargas today in an indoor simulated game Monday.

He went 1-for-6 with two walks and a two strikeouts in Grapefruit League agames and hit two home runs in a minor league scrimmage.

“Everything felt good,” Conforto said after the session yesterday. “Vargas, he’s got some movement on his pitches, so it was good to see a good lefty. It was in the cage, so it was a little different than being out on the field.

“It feels good, definitely better than Florida. I know it’s cold here and there’s snow on the ground, but it’s good to be back in New York.”

Mickey Callaway told the press after today’s game that Michael Conforto will play in a simulated game tomorrow, in which the outfielder will face Jason Vargas.

It has been deemed possible that he will return in time for the Washington Nationals series that begins on Thursday, which is also the day he is eligible to be activated from the DL.

The New York Mets released their injury report this morning and the most notable part of the equation was regarding Michael Conforto who is traveling to New York today.

Conforto has progressed ahead of schedule in his rehab from a dislocated left shoulder and even played in a couple of Spring Training games with the team before they headed north.

Yoenis Cespedes said Conforto was going to end up missing about five games this season before returning and it was unclear whether or not he would need a rehab assignment before returning.

The fact that he is on his way to New York suggests that is unlikely and that he will likely be activated in the coming days. He is eligible to be activated on April 5th.

The 24-year old slashed .279/.384/.555 with a .392 wOBA and 146 wRC+ over 440 plate appearances prior to his injury in August.
