Big Sexy, Bartolo Colon, had his roughest outing of the season Thursday night. The Mets dropped the series finale by a score of 5-0.

Bartolo left the first inning trailing by a score of 4-0, and his team never had a chance with Clayton Kershaw on the mound for the Dodgers. A three-run homer by Yasmani Grandal would be the big dagger in the first, as Colon took his first loss since April 9th of this season. Colon’s biggest struggle of the night, surprisingly, was his command as noted by his manager, Terry Collins.

“He lives with command,” Collins said. “You saw in the first inning, balls were up. Balls were over the plate and didn’t really have that good life that he normally has.” (ESPN)

The Dodgers jumped all over Colon early, swinging and connecting with ease.

“The key to the Dodgers’ success was in the first inning I was throwing strikes and they were just jumping on my first pitches,” Colon said through an interpreter.

Colon allowed five runs on seven hits in five innings pitched Thursday’s loss. He struck out three while walking none. Bartolo’s record on the year dropped to 3-2, with a season ERA of 3.53.
