Pitching coach Dan Warthen told Mike Puma of the New York Post that he would adjust the rotation to allow Matt Harvey to start the All Star Game if Bruce Bochy gives him the nod.
“That is 20 days away, a lot could change,” Collins said, referring to postponements that could alter the rotation. “But if he gets picked to start the game, I would think we would adjust it.”
All-Star rosters are set to be unveiled on July 7, but the All-Star managers typically don’t announce their starting pitchers until the day before the game, says Puma.
That would put the Mets in the position of needing advance notice from NL manager Bruce Bochy if Harvey was going to receive the assignment. Bochy has said he’d likely consider starting Harvey because the game is in Queens.
Or he could likely start him because he’d give the NL the best chance to win and his stats back that up.
In his last start, Harvey limited Philadelphia to two hits and a walk in six scoreless innings to give him an NL-leading 2.04 ERA. he also leads the NL with 121 strikeouts and a .188 BAA.
The last Mets pitcher to start an All-Star game was Dwight Gooden in 1988.

Matt Harvey has moved past Dillon Gee in the scheduled rotation and will pitch on Friday against the Washington Nationals in the series opener.
With the movement, Gee gets bumped to Saturday and Zack Wheeler Sunday.The team recently announced the shift on Twitter.
Harvey will make his start at CIti Field Friday on standard rest after throwing only 72 pitches against the Phillies last Sunday. The switch also gives Gee, battling tendinitis in his right elbow, an extra day off. Wheeler will close out the series on Sunday in his Citi Field debut.
