It’s a hip issue for Scott, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Like Sammon, he notes it isn’t believed to be serious.

Just when things looked to be going in the Mets’ direction after taking the weekend series from MLB’s best Atlanta Braves, the injury bug takes another bite. Will Sammon of The Athletic reports that the Mets are placing RHP Christian Scott on the injured list. The nature of the injury is unknown, but the good news is that the injury appears minor. Scott previously missed all of 2025 recovering from Tommy John surgery in 2024.

Scott was supposed to get the start in Cincinnati on Tuesday, but instead, the Mets will have to shift their plans once more. The 27-year-old has been a bright spot in the Mets’ rotation in 2026, pitching to a 3.10 ERA across nine starts. In those 40.2 innings, he struck out 47, walked 19 and surrendered four home runs.

Length has been an issue for Scott in 2026, pitching into the fifth inning just four times in his nine starts. The Mets now have a solidified rotation of Freddy Peralta, Nolan McLean and Sean Manaea, who just rejoined the rotation in his last start. New York will likely call on their bullpen to take on more responsibility, specifically Tobias Myers, who will start on Monday, and David Peterson, who has struggled in 2026. Of note, Kodai Senga seems to be nearing a return to the big league team, and his promising start in his latest rehab appearance could solidify the rotation.

Other options include Jonah Tong, who has struggled in Syracuse, recalling Zach Thornton, who made one start in 2026, amongst other top prospects like LHP Jonathan Santucci and RHP Jack Wenninger.
