According to Jim Baumbach via Twitter,
Chris Young, who is his own agent, told San Diego Union-Tribune the Mets are one of the teams he’s spoken to but he’s not close on anything.

Though both sides are talking, several sources including Steve Popper and Andy Martino are reporting that “nothing was close at this time” between the parties.
So while something could eventually get done, nothing is imminent at this time.

According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the Mets are very close to signing RHP Chris Young.
Of course, this would be the first significant signing for Sandy Alderson since being named as the new Mets GM.
Young has had some health issues with his shoulder in 2010 and only appeared in four games last season, and just made 36 starts in the last three seasons.
He did end the season healthy after making his last three starts and going 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA in 20 innings pitched. He allowed just 10 hits but walked 11 and struck out 15.
The 31-year old had a fine season in 2007 when he went 9-8 with a 3.12 ERA in 30 starts for the Padres. If he can stay healthy, he could be a nice fit for the Mets rotation. As a flyball pitcher, Citi Field would be to his liking.
Young has a career 3.80 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP with a 48-34 won-loss record.
No terms were released as of yet, but he could get something in the vicinity of $3MM to $4MM dollars on a one year deal with a team option.
