Not that this should come as any surprise to us, but when Angel Pagan gets activated tomorrow from the disabled list, it could mean a flurry of minor moves including cutting utility infielder Chin-lung Hu.

Hu has been a major disappointment at the plate and his roster spot was assured mostly because of his defensive reputation, a reputation he has yet to exhibit since joining the Mets.

The Daily News writes that Sandy Alderson could act quickly on this as he seems to have little patience for underperforming players.

What can be done to tighten this up? Sandy Alderson has shown early boldness in tinkering around the margins of the roster, and in recent days the team has discussed more minor moves. Take Chin-lung Hu: Brought in for defense, he started at second base and made a Knoblauchian throwing error in the third inning. His 0-for-3, two-strikeout performance left his batting average at .059.

Some of the worst moments I’ve seen so far this season have been the ones where Hu was called on to pinch-hit in the ninth inning with the tying or winning runs on base. He made the last out striking out in Wednesday’s loss to the Giants.

His performance yesterday was just brutal, and I’m still trying to figure out why Terry Collins opted to bat him second.
