Mike Puma of the New York Post reports today that Indians GM Mike Chernoff won’t interview for the Mets GM opening.

According to Puma, the only known candidates at the moment are Doug Melvin, Gary LaRocque, Kim Ng, De Jon Watson, and Chaim Bloom.

Chernoff, 37, was rumored to be of interest to the Mets organization, but as a current GM with the Indians, it is very possible that he either decided to not pursue other opportunities or the organization denied the Mets request for an interview as he is still under contract.

John Ricco and Omar Minaya will continue to work alongside Jeff and Fred Wilpon in order to find their next GM.
