Max Scherzer is taking the mound for the fourth time this postseason (third start) in which he is 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 13 innings of work.
Adam Wainwright, meanwhile, is making his second start of the postseason and went 7 2/3 innings without allowing a run against the Atlanta Braves on October 6. He also struck out eight batters in that span.

After making it the ALCS on Thursday night by defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 6-1, the Houston Astros stay at home for Game 1 of the ALCS against the New York Yankees who swept the Minnesota Twins.
Zack Greinke takes the mound for the Astros. In his first and only start this postseason, Greinke struggled in Tampa Bay as he allowed six runs over 3 2/3 innings and gave up three homers.
Masahiro Tanaka, meanwhile, allowed one run over five innings against the Twins at Yankee Stadium in his first and only start this postseason as well.
