Yoenis Cespedes, through his interpreter Carlos Guillen, spoke to the media this morning and said a few interesting pieces of information.

For starters, Cespedes will be undergoing the second of his two heel surgeries on October 23.

The 32-year-old also said that right now he is feeling pretty good “feeling pretty good right now, even better than [he] was expecting to feel at this point.”

However, the most notable thing he mentioned was probably the most concerning as well as he gave a very uncertain response regarding his return in 2019.

“That’s something that I think is unpredictable given what is happening. I’m not going to predict x,y,z amount of games. I think that is something that is very unpredictable right now.”

Cespedes will be entering the third season of a four-year, $110 million contract next season and with an 8-10 month expected recovery period, there is a good chance he will miss the majority of it.

The outfielder got the first of his two surgeries on August 2 after returning from the DL for one game against the New York Yankees after dealing with hip issues for the majority of this season.
