Yoenis Cespedes and Jed Lowrie went near full tilt in spring training Monday to the delight of Mets manager Luis Rojas. The oft injured stars participated in most of the drills at Port St. Lucie with very little restriction.

Cespedes, who is battling heel and ankle issues, will remain a limited participant in spring training according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, but was particularly effective during batting practice. Rojas took notice and told reporters “he looked really good ” during the session.

Cespedes was unavailable for comment as he told the media earlier he will not make any comments to reporters, “not today, not tomorrow, not at all this year.”

Lowrie, who was donned in a bulky leg brace that stretched form his left ankle to about mid-thigh, had no physical restrictions at all per Rojas. He took ground balls and batting practice among other activities. Rojas said,  “right now, Jed is a full go in practice.”

Lowrie did meet the press briefly on Monday, but failed to disclose the nature, severity or even type of injury he is battling. The fact that he had no limitations in practice hopefully means he’s on the mend.

So we’re left with a pair of Mets who still have question marks as spring training begins in earnest. Cespedes will have some limitations, and apparently Lowrie will not. It certainly will be interesting to see how they are both used by Rojas in spring training games that begin in about a week.
