For the past week, Luis Castillo, has been playing through a bone bruise on his left foot that has caused him to be out of the lineup of a few games. Well finally the injury turned out to be too much to play through and Castillo was placed on the 15 day disabled list.

Alex Cora will be filling in as the every day second baseman until Castillo returns, however, the Mets will also be recalling up second baseman/shortstop prospect, Ruben Tejada from Triple-A Buffalo.

Tejada during his first time up with the Mets earlier this season didn’t get much playing time as he only got six at bats and and one hit for a .167 average and scored on that one hit. Tejada also has one walk and one strikeout with the Mets.

In Buffalo this season, Tejada was batting .294 with one home run and eleven RBIs along with a 10/28 walk-to-strikeout ratio.
