The Mets (13-22) brought down the Colorado Rockies (14-22) by a score of 4-2 on Monday evening at Citi Field.
After a tough stretch earlier in the season, New York is starting to show signs of life, putting together a well-rounded performance on both sides of the ball. The pitching staff was dominant throughout, and timely hitting in the middle innings provided all the offense the Mets needed.
The Mets have now won three of their last four games, looking to turn the corner after a previous 12-game losing streak last month.
New York got on the board first in the sixth inning. Carson Benge kicked off the scoring (and hitting for New York) with a leadoff solo home run, his third of the season. Back-to-back doubles from Francisco Alvarez and Luis Torrens drove in another run. After a Juan Soto walk, Mark Vientos delivered a two-out RBI single to cap off the rally and make it 4-0 Mets.

The Mets threw a bullpen game, with Huascar Brazobán getting the start as the opener and tossing a clean first inning. Austin Warren followed with two strong innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three.
David Peterson entered in the fourth and was dominant, not allowing a baserunner until the seventh inning. He ran into some trouble there, surrendering a two-out single followed by an RBI triple and another RBI base hit to cut the lead to 4-2. Still, Peterson was sharp overall, striking out six and walking one while earning the win as the bulk reliever.
Craig Kimbrel handled the eighth inning and worked around a one-out triple to keep the Rockies from getting any closer.
Devin Williams closed it out in the ninth, retiring the side in order to secure the save.
PLAYER OF THE GAME
