Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper said today, that the New York Mets are the team to beat in the National League this season.

“We’re definitely looking forward to the challenge,” Harper told Washington beat reporters. “The team to beat are the Mets. That’s what it is right now. They kicked the crap out of our division last year, and hopefully we’re going to come in this year and do what we can to knock them off, or anybody else off in all of baseball.” (Adam Rubin, ESPN New York)

Despite the Nats beginning the 2015 season as the heavy favorites to win the World Series with 9-1 odds, the Mets captured the NL East and National League pennant before losing to the Kansas City Royals in the World Series in five games.

The Nationals fired manager Matt Williams immediately after the season ended and replaced him with Dusty Baker.
