After the Nationals lost the first of three crucial games against the Mets on Monday, by a score of 8-5, MVP candidate Bryce Harper called out Nats fans for their lack of support.

“I mean, they left in the seventh. That’s pretty brutal. I don’t know, whatever.”

You know what else was brutal? Bryce Harper, who went 0-for-4 and struck out three times. I don’t know, whatever.

Of course, what Harper noted was plain to see as the cameras caught thousands of fans exiting Nationals Park after the Mets took a three run in the top of the seventh. But still… Not a great idea to call out your own fans.

By the time Jeurys Familia came in to close out the ninth, the stadium was mostly Mets fans who loudly cheered as the Mets closer struck out the side.

It was a thrilling victory for the Mets and manager Terry Collins applauded the team’s resiliency.

“I’m so proud of these guys. They came out and in the biggest game of our entire season so far, they fell behind, then came back and finally held on for the victory. It was a great win.”

Yes, it was.
