Hedge fund billionaire Steve Cohen is closing in on his quest to take ownership of the New York Mets.

A source has informed Joe Pantorno of AM New York Metro on Sunday evening that negotiations between Cohen and the Mets to purchase 80% of the team have been successful and is now just pending the approval of MLB team owners.

“It’s happening,” the source added.

Charles Gasparino of Fox Business adds that Cohen has the votes to be approved by owners despite insider trading issues.

That approval is expected to happen at the next owners meetings being held November 11-14.

Cohen would need approval from 23 of 30 owners to become the owner of the Mets.

I’m getting goosebumps!
